Got a question?
A passion for wine is where it all started
The year is 2006 and Niseko is a sleepy ski town famous for its potatoes in the shadow of Mt. Yotei. My first season was at Sekka. 3 years later my space became available and not wanting to die wondering Niseko Cellars was born. I saw that with so many apartments being built I thought a wine shop was needed.
Then through the desire to "chew the fat" with visitors I applied for a restaurant license to serve wine and introduce some of Hokkaido's finest artisan foods I loved; namely meats and cheese.
Then, as I'm always there the name was changed and Mick's was born and as they say the rest is history! I only serve wines and beers I like and that tell me a story and where there from and how they were made! Craft beers was the only option!
Mick's (I'm) both a wine shop and a wine bar. I'm now part of the Niseko landscape / experience today. We carry wines from all over the planet, craft beers from all over Japan and great ciders, whiskys, and spirits to boot. In the food department we have locally made cheeses and an extensive Charcuterie selection with our very own exclusively made spicy venison salami.
Come say hi and try staying for just the one!

Afraid of no wine, your host, and our fearless leader
Mick NippardOwner and self-professed oenophileI have been lucky enough to taste some the finest and rarest wines on the planet. I just love the story that a glass of wine tells me. Its a statement of place and time and of who!
I care most about the taste and texture of a wine not so much about the category of a wine. Basically I also only really care what goes down your mouth in my store! Lastly if I wouldn't drink it I definitely wouldn't sell it! Cheers! - Mick |
